Mosh pit footage from Ozzfest

Is it just me, or does this pit seem a wee bit weak? But who gives a fuck. The chick in the blue top looks hot.

P.S. The bald dude pulling that fucktard smile after getting knocked around in the beginning is pure unadulterated hilarity.

Will almost suck cock for a ticket out of this place.

Just a quick word..

Yeah hey everyone. I'm pretty pleased with the overall response to this blog, so thanks a lot. Of course, if there's anything you wanna say, i'd love some feedback. Feel free to leave a comment, or use my email : derelict.n@gmail.com.
And yeah, please, spread the fucking word.
Thanks.

I'm also currently looking for contributors - more specifically, Reviewers. There's new albums, music, videos, previews coming out all the time, and i wont be able to keep up with half of them. If you're absolutely any good at writing, are shitfixiated on any and everything metal and have not yet shaken off the mortal coil, hit me up at the email specified above.

_____

That's about it for now. I'm diaper-wettingly excited about getting video from yesterday's Slayer/Marilyn Manson tour opener, and rest assured that 'diaper-wettingly' is not a real word. Oh, and that i will post the videos here as fucking soon as i can get my eyes on them.

Shalom, and fishtits.

RJ

Fishtits. Is there anything they cant do?

Uncool DIMMU BORGIR update

Due to a recently diagnosed injury, DIMMU BORGIR drummer Hellhammer will be unable to play drums for the band on the remaining festival dates this summer and the upcoming European tour with AMON AMARTH and HATESPHERE.

Hellhammer’s x-ray confirmed a severe neck prolapse causing numbness in his right arm. He will be going into treatment soon and could - quite possibly - undergo corrective surgery.

Taking over drum duties for the upcoming shows will be Tony Laureano (Nile, Angelcorpse, Aurora Borealis), who played for DIMMU BORGIR during the band’s North American stint on Ozzfest in 2004 and during festival performances throughout 2005.

"Severe neck prolapse causing numbness in his right arm"? That does not sound good.
I hope someone sends him a 'Get Well Soon' card or something. You know, coz that'd be so gay. And funny.

Hellhammer, the amazing one-armed drummer. Now that's good tv.

NILE and RAMMSTEIN update

A quick NILE update:

Nile's new album Ithyphallic is available to stream in its entirety from Mp3.com ahead of its July 17 release.

http://www.mp3.com/artist/nile1/summary/

Times like this are when i wish i had bought that fast internet connection instead of blowing the money on booze. And that i had saved up. And that i had a job, or just about any source of income. Or money. Or a chimpanzee. Fuck me ludicrously. Never mind the chimpanzee.

Anyway, moving on.. RAMMSTEIN's manager Emanuel Fialik has denied rumours that frontman Til Lindemann is leaving the band.

"Neither Till Lindemann nor another band member plans to leave Rammstein. The band is currently working on the next album and is in an excellent mood. As the greed for news is the actual doping in cycling, this 'news' is only serving those who spread the same. Though the world knows now that EnEsch has moved to Berlin, even the poor EnEsch was shocked by the outlook to have to step into Till Lindemanns footsteps. I hope he and the fans of the band will recover soon from this false report."

Ah fuck. I could've earned a lot by replacing Lindemann. Then again, I am the epitome of "Shit happens."

"Show me the money."

DAATH video update.

Here's a five-minute video interview with American IDM (Industrial Death metal) band DAATH members Eyal Levi and Mike Kameron :

(from Synthesis.net)

Plus, a guitar "shredding" video of Eyal Levi and Emil Werstler by FPE.net :

Want more?

Check out DAATH's official Youtube video channel.

I am not a Youtube whore. I am not flattered.

Guess who's a whiny faggot?

MTV.com has this to say about Ozzfest :

Cool: Parents who still dig heavy metal. Not cool: Parents who still dig heavy metal encouraging their kids to stoke an illegal fire by tossing in cardboard hot-dog cartons and loose socks.

Cool: A horde of Finnish zombies encircled by sparks and flames shredding their way through songs like “Who’s Your Daddy?” and “Bringing Back the Balls to Rock” — all while the sun sets in a gorgeous Inland Empire valley. Not cool: Styrofoam bonfires creating a toxic cloud of smoke that sweeps over the audience, causing everyone to cough as if the Great Outbreak just hit.

Cool: People who camp out all day to see a fun show. Not cool: A dude who wakes up on the ground after passing out and, as he comes to, coughs into the face of a security guard, who darts away hacking.

Cool: LAMB OF GOD. Not cool: STATIC-X.

Read the whole shitty review at MTV.com.

Getting to see Lamb Of God, Slayer, Behemoth, Nile etc. for fucking free?
Yeah, that really fucking sucks.

(Note : That's sarcasm, morons.)

MTV reporters are ungrateful little bitches.

John 5 needs a pacifier. And a gig.

STATIC-X were joined onstage by guest performer John 5 (ex-Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) at their 21st July, Devore, California Ozzfest gig. Which means John 5, bless him, did 6.7 lines of coke and bounced all over the stage making weird faces.

Oh, and he played some guitar too.

See for yourself :

I am John's unfettered hilarity.

Its raining Korn.

I agree the title is pretty fucking lame. But what else do you call a whole album of new songs, a just-released music video, and some tasty news?

Korn put their new album on their Myspace page - the whole album. Yep.
I'll let you fill in the appropriate exclamations.

Their eighth, as yet untitled album, features the first single Evolution, whose video debuted on MTV2 yesterday. In case your IQ roughly equals your shoe size, please scroll down to find the music video in its entirety at the end of this post.

Those of you not governed by knee-jerk reactions, thank you for your patience. Anyway, in support of the video, Korn has also released a spoof website at EvolutionDevolution.com.
Check it out, its some pretty funny shit.

Still not had enough? Check out this little gem :

According to Launch Radio Networks, simulated virtual reality images of the members of Korn, known as avatars, are performing their new single "Evolution" beginning Monday, July 23 at VirtualKorn.mtv.com. Fans are also be able to listen to a preview stream of the band's entire new album, while singer Jonathan Davis, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu chat live with fans at the site from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET.

That was immensely cromulent.

And finally, the video.

My favorite moment of the video has to be the montage of clips comparing humans and animals at the one minute mark. Wait for the end, and you shall be enlightened. And delighted.

Who gives a fuck a about evolution anyway? Lets party!

This kid fucking rocks.

Just watch the videos. I dont need to say a thing.

I may not be a lot of things, but jealous i am definitely not.
Still, Fuck You, amazing-overweight-underage-guitarist-dude.

I sin, for I am jealous.

Take one guess why i'm unnaturally aroused right now..

Joey Jordison told KERRANG! recently that their next album will be SlipKnot's heaviest yet.

"It's going to be heavy as fuck!" promised Jordison. "It's going to be heavier than 'Vol. 3...' but just as weird and as experimental. We have a whole bunch of song titles, but nothing I wanna say right now."

"I'm having a blast out on the road," Jordison told Kerrang!. "I'll be on the whole Family Values run in the U.S. with KORN over the summer and we've got some Brazilian dates in August and September. The KORN guys are really laid back and the shows have been killer, but in October we'll be starting a new SLIPKNOT chapter."

Jordison will regroup with his SLIPKNOT bandmates to begin writing material for their fifth studio album with a view to recording in January.

"I've talked to the other guys a bunch of times over the last few months about the new album," he explained to Kerrang!. "I've told them to demo whatever they can so we've got as much material to chose from as possible. So be warned 2008 is going to be all about SLIPKNOT!"

All i can say is : Awesome.
Fuck yeah.

(If you dont know who Joey Jordison or Slipknot is, i suggest you buy a pack of cigarettes, open it, put one in your mouth, light it, and then stick the burning end in your eye. Or you could use Google. Either one is good.)

No one takes my suggestions seriously.

KISS takes over Sault Ste. Marie

Donna Hopper of SooToday.com reports that nearly 10,000 KISS fans from around the globe converged on the Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Friday night to witness what Mayor Bosbous proclaimed to be KISS Appreciation Day.

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan was one of only three dates scheduled in 2007 for the band with the most loyal fans in rock n' roll history.

In a quiet ceremony prior to the show, Ray Bauer bestowed the Key to the City to the members of KISS for their contribution to the music industry, commitment to their craft and undying devotion to their fans.

Whoa.

Anyone else think Gene Simmons sticking his tongue out is a little obscene?

Kerry King, fashionista extraordinaire

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King recently spoke to Hails & Horns magazine about the status of his KFK Industries clothing line which he launched in 2003.

"It's been down for almost a year," Kerry said. "I've moved twice in, like, 15 months so I'm getting all settled in my new place. I'm getting as much SLAYER touring out of the way, then I'm going to relaunch it with a new name and new product. It's still KFK [which stands for 'Kerry Fucking King' — Ed.], but it's going to be "Ministries" instead of "Industries." There are companies where I live called "Industries," but I'm, like, "Nobody has 'Ministries,'' so we went with that one. When we re-launch, it will be KFKIndustries.com. We already got a domain name and all that. It's just waiting for me to have time to relaunch it correctly."

I understand artist merchandising as much as the next person, but next time you see Kerry King, look again. If you look closely you'll notice his head is so far up his ass its emerged over his shoulders exactly where it should normally be. Freaky shit.

Kerry King's digestive system is remarkable.

James Hetfield interview : "Kerry King is afraid of getting old."

Starting off our first post with a great James Hetfield (Metallica) interview seems like a good idea.
So i'll get on with it.

Greece's metal TV show TV War recently conducted an interview with James Hetfield; here's a small transcript (videos are at bottom) :

On playing the "Live Earth" concert and whether musicians should get involved in politics:

Hetfield: "Fuck politics! I mean, I can't stand it. It drives me crazy. And there's politics within music; the business side a lot of times really, really bothers me. I like playing music. We were asked to play, and I said, 'OK. I wanna play. There's a lot of people that are gonna be watching that show.' . . . I don't like talking politics. METALLICA is about music from us, music for the ears of our fans. Really, that's what it's about. I don't like playing for any cause. I had to get a little more talked into playing this show. I don't like any strings attached to things. I wanna play because I like to play."

On the "Some Kind of Monster" movie and SLAYER guitarist Kerry King's explanation that he didn't want to watch the film because he didn't want to "see these fragile fucking old men that can't have a cocktail anymore":

Hetfield: "That's probably what they saw, and that makes a lot of sense — that's what they're afraid of… they don't want to get old and… Everyone gets old, everyone goes through things. It happened that we went through that on film. And we're not afraid to show ourselves to anyone at any time. That is pure freedom right there. Putting that movie out was more for us, I would say. I'm not interested in showing everyone my dirty laundry, but that was part of human nature. It wasn't to shock anyone, it wasn't to make money, it wasn't to… there was no ulterior motive to that except showing what we went through at that time."

On what makes producer Rick Rubin (SLIPKNOT, AUDIOSLAVE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SYSTEM OF A DOWN) so special and why METALLICA picked him to work on the new album:

Hetfield: "It's not luck that these albums that he does [that] they sound good and they hit the mark. Bob Rock… god bless Bob Rock. We learned so much from him. But at a point we were too enmeshed together, and I think we needed to just separate for awhile. And working with someone new — someone who we might be able to respect... It's tough when you're at the top of your game and you've done it all. You need someone to show you things, and hopefully he's gonna show us some things we don't know."

On some of the off-the-wall and outlandish things that people have done as a result of their love for METALLICA — such as the Swedish couple that named its daughter "Metallica", the book "Metallica and Philosophy" written by a college professor, and the death of a Canadian fan following an argument over METALLICA:

Hetfield: "We are four very grateful and lucky kids that play music. . . I don't know what to say. We're just doing what gift we have, and their gift may be writing a book. Naming your kid METALLICA… I don't know about that. Maybe my dog or something, but your child? Hey, if they love it so much, why not? People getting married to METALLICA songs… Hopefully it's not just a trendy thing, [and] it really moves you. And everyone in life just wants to be moved and feel like they're a part of something, or feel alive, and METALLICA music does that for me, and I'm grateful that it does it for a lot of other people."

And finally, the videos :

Part 1

Part 2

He looks like a fat fuck.

Kerry King has discovered the fountain of youth.

Welcome. Now die.

Forgive the cheesy title of this post, but i have a most delightful hangover, that seems to not ever have heard of something called aspirin.

Anyway, welcome to
The Scythe. We'll be bringing you the latest news, views and reviews, along with pictures, video and audio and more from the wonderful world of METAL. So sit back, and try not to ejaculate all over your screen.

Goodbye you. Hello aspirin.
